Today, the Media has a greater and greater  influences on people. Many people believe that media have both advantages and disadvantages the famous. And there are more and more reports that related to the private life of stars and celebrities.

Mass media such as, magazines, newspapers, televisions and etc. It provides a link between famous and the audience. Through the articles, other people can learn much  about their background lifestyles of that person. Without the press, do you think may people know what is going on in our society? and the people may would know about their childhood, for instance? The second important factor is Advertisement. To the politicians. the media plays indispensable role in their running for elections, they inform us the most critical information of that candidate so we can know what he/she is and the background of his/her life. Therefore, we can conclude if he/she will gonna vote for the election day. To the entertainment stars, the media helps popularize the upstart as well as spread the others’ latest information, which allows their fans to keep track of their activities and morally support them timely.

The success of Justin Bieber’s albums is one such example. Lastly, the media enhances more or less the well-known people’s self-improvement. While the pressure of criticism demands celebrities to work more efficiently to create high-quality products, which is beneficial not only to the famous but also to their audience. Having their private life be constantly noticed forces the famous to lead a model life. This explains why teenage stars such as Miley Cirus have to learn how to behave properly. In general, the media brings about several good things to the well-known.

On the other hand, celebrities’ lives are also negatively affected by the media. First, it makes the scandals and rumors travel so fast. Providing a music star makes a slip of the tongue, her mistake will be well-known swiftly. Furthermore, the media annoys the famous by invading into their privacy life. Many paparazzi ambushing outside a celebrity’s house to hunt for information is now an old same story. This may cause great troubles to the famous and their families.

Famous people’s lives are always interesting to report. Their struggle to achieve fame and perhaps the subsequent fortune always becomes public attention because fame and fortune are so attractive that many other people want to achieve them. By following in famous people’s footsteps, many other people expect to be the next to achieve fame and fortune, gain public attention and popularity, and enjoy special privileges exclusively reserved for famous people.

Responding to the great public attention to famous people, mass media are racing to make reportage about them. However, in making such reportage, mass media crew are often found to only dig up interesting topics, by any means, while neglecting the privacy of the persons they are reporting. For example, to make their reportage intriguing, the crew often expose the famous persons’ undeniably embarrassing pasts. The reportage is so designed that the persons being reported have nothing to say but accept the truth and admit their pasts though grudgingly. This kind of reportage, common to most popular mass media, triggers a question whether famous people are treated unfairly by mass media.

From my observation, I tend to be of the opinion that mass media do treat famous people unfairly. In addition to the unethical reportage mentioned above, there are many cases in which famous people are reported disproportionately. Their negligible mistakes sometimes are exaggerated and seem to overshadow their good deeds. This exaggeration is partly due to public expectation that famous people should stand out as public figures who always give good examples to other people so that any mistakes seem intolerable.

As our fellow citizens, famous people also have the rights similar to ours, including the rights to privacy. However, fame has its own price. Once someone becomes popular or famous, he/she has to realize that he/she can’t escape public attention and has to allow mass media to invade a substantial part of his/her private life because mass media have their share and play an important role in his/her fame and success. Consequently, he/she has to manage his/her life wisely so as to live in harmony with mass media and not to let them ruin his/her life.

The consequences of the media’s negative role can be unpredictable. The media should give more freedom to celebrities, and they will have their mind-set and can give a better performance. It is a controversy whether the media is treating celebrities unjustly or not.
